The Sockeye Salmon
The Sockeye Salmon is also known as the Red Salmon. They possess a blue tint with a silver color, lacking back and tail spots while in the ocean. On average the can grow up to 25 inches in length and weigh an average of 6 pounds. They spend around two to three years in the ocean before returning to freshwater to spawn.
Their flesh has a rich flavor that maintains its distinctive deep red color throughout the cooking process. It is a high quality protein that is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, phosphorous, and potassium. They are a versatile fish that can be enjoyed grilled, broiled, roasted, poached, steamed, or smoked.
Sockeye are harvested in the Copper River and in Prince William Sound from May to August. Our plant cleans, heads, guts, and ices our sockeye with superb care for every order. Please contact us for pricing. Wholesale orders only with a 500 pound minimum.
