The King Salmon
King Salmon are also known as the Chinook Salmon. These fish spend up to eight years in the ocean before returning to freshwater to spawn. This salmon has silvery sides and a blue-green, red, or purple color on its backside and top of the head. On its tail are black spots that run up to the upper half of its body. They are the largest of the salmon species averaging 10 to 50 Ibs and 30 to 40 inches in length.
Their flesh has excellent flaky texture, full of rich flavor, nutrients, and oils such as omega-3 fatty acids. They are excellent meals when baked, smoked, grilled, barbecued, or broiled.
